As a texture artist I am very aware of how things tend to pattern in an environment. Grass clusters, tile patterning, how one segment of a “live” texture is different from another so I can replicate it in digital media.
What really annoys me is when I see a real-life “tiling, non repeating” texture. In this particular case it happened to be some plastic wainscoting in the school bathroom. It was pretty close, but not quite. A pebbly, stucco-ish pattern that just had one too large bump that repeated every three inches or so.
Aaaargh. I’m probably no fun at movies either.
