How to dispose of a body…

A morbid topic to be sure, but relavent somehow.  I have just had my mother-in-law and her boyfriend out for a visit for the first time.  They’re both older, but not yet to the walker-phase of life, but while they were out, her boyfriend became very ill.  His health, as it turns out, is somewhat dicey normally, and the additional stresses put on him by sightseeing did a number on his heart.  On top of that, he managed to catch a 24hr stomach bug, so my mother-in-law was somewhat worried he was going to expire.

It occurred to me, I really had no idea what to do if that happened.  I mean, in the classic sense I could bury him in the backyard I suppose.  Or dump him in the Bay.  But this would be a natural causes type situation, so there are agencies in place for just this kind of thing.  I just don’t know what they are or what the common procedures are.  Should I call the police so they can come see that, yes, in fact this wasn’t a foul-play type situation?  Should I call 911?  I mean, if he was already dead, say expired in his sleep, there wouldn’t be much point calling the EMT’s or an ambulance.

I can see I’m going to need to do some additional research here.

Saturdays in the park…

We have the most fabulous park near our home. Huge, well maintained, excellent, interesting equipment, walking/biking paths. Absolutely fabulous. But parks, like everything else, have their ebb and flow during the week. If I go too early in the day, there’s noone there (which for kids is not as much fun as you might think). If I go too late, its full of pre-teens, which means the kids come home saying things like *wHATevah* and invariably my littlest one has been injured trying to copy the “big kid” stuff. Saturday and Sunday mornings though, those are prefect. Good blend of big kids and little kids, active engaging parents (anyone whose made it to the park by 10am on a Saturday with kids has to be fairly active. All in all it’s a pretty nice day out for all.
